Here you will find the list with the named approvals for BMW Longlife-01 (LL-01) engine oils of the viscosity classes 5W-30, 0W-30, 5W-40 and 0W-40. BMW Longlife-01 engine oil was developed for BMW petrol engines from 2001 onwards.
In contrast to the LL-01 oil, the newer BMW LL-04 engine oil was developed taking into account the requirements of diesel engines with DPF (diesel particle filter)
Petrol engines that require a BMW Longlife-01 engine oil could also use a BMW Longlife-04 engine oil.
Diesel with DPF always need the LL-04, as this is a low SAPS oil.
